Service-Oriented Urban Science

In the past, personal service--whether it was aimed at enhancing an administrative policy, for example, or adding value to a product--was seen as something emerging organically from one's sensibilities and experience. Nowadays, we study the subject of service science from a number of perspectives, with the aim of discovering new ways to create value. At our graduate school, we design and assess--from both a private and a public perspective--services in the areas of Social System Studies and Urban Innovation. These courses provide the requisite foundation for an understanding of the general theory of service science, and they are supplemented by study of related local collaboration methods. Such courses include lectures by professionals who possess hands-on experience in joint projects with local governments and private companies. The Graduate School of Urban Science aims to create for the local region a hub of service science research and education.
