Meijo UniversityDepartment of Mechatronics Engineering

The field of mechatronics encompasses a fusion of mechanics, electronics, and informatics. For example, electric cars (EVs) are supported not only by mechanical engineering, but also by electrical, control, and computer technologies. In the field of medicine, nano/micro mechatronics technologies support advances in medical equipment. All in all, mechatronics engineers are needed in a wide range of industries.

  • Training the design and modeling skills needed to develop an innovative system based on a knowledge of mechanics, electronics, control theory, and computer technologies.
  • This department cooperates with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and the Department of Vehicle and Mechanical Engineering to foster mechatronics engineers who can think in terms of mechatronics.
  • Three advanced study programs are offered: Electricity; Mechanisms; and Humans and Medicine.
