    Discussion Ⅰ-Ⅳ

In all my classes we work together to help each other. We get to know everyone, and we listen to everyone’s life story and opinions. English isn’t a list of words from a dictionary to memorize. English is about communicating meaning. It’s about sharing your story and your opinion. Then we learn to listen to each and disagree respectfully. Class time is about learning from other people, and we use English to do that.

Learning comes from communication between people. I am most interested in helping students understand themselves and learn how to learn better. As such, I am especially interested in areas of personal identity: educational psychology, goals, language learning histories, gender identity and intercultural communication as well as areas of content development: vocabulary acquisition, writing skills, presentation skills, content-based language learning and task-based learning. I have many interests, and I hope a better understanding of these topics will help us to find our purpose in language learning.

ワタシとコトバ

My favorite word is diversity. We all come from different places, different families, different experiences, and that’s ok. We have different interests and hobbies. Wherever you go, at work, at school, study abroad you will meet many kinds of people. We can learn from each other. No one is perfect. We’re all human, and we should help each other to become better in every stage of life.

ワタシとセカイ

In class, I hope to create students who love learning, students who will be curious and continue learning even after they graduate from our university. To do this, I expose students to content from outside the textbook through authentic pictures, videos and readings from real-life. Then we reflect and share our opinions and related experiences. Being able to relate to people and listen to their opinions is a life skill that I hope students will be able to use for the rest of their lives in the world outside the classroom.
