Professor Akasaki went to Stockholm University in the morning of December 7th (in the evening of 7th Japan time) to rehearse his Nobel lecture. He carefully ran through the lecture with local staff as well as his research team members - Professor Kamiyama, Associate Professor Takeuchi and Associate Professor Iwaya. Professor Akasaki, getting in a laureate’s car, waved to a crowd of reporters waiting outside to see him. He also responded on site to requests from citizens asking for his autograph.

President Nakane and Dean Yoshihisa, Faculty of Science and Technology, arrived at Stockholm late at night on December 7th (early morning of 8th Japan time). All of Professor Aksaki’s entourages are now in Stockholm and will be here to watch Professor Akasaki’s proud moments at his Nobel lecture and the Nobel Prize presentation ceremony.
